1983 Honda 250r built from scratch |
I bought this '83 frame in the spring of 2003 as a spare for my '84. As it turns out, I kept buying more parts until I wanted a whole new ride. At first I thought "500r" but that quickly died. It had a rattle can paint job when I got it for $50 but needed a complete blasting and new paint. The title was clear and I transferred it into my name. |
...another shot of the frame to the right. The frame pics were taken in my sons bedroom because I was storing the frame in the attic which has the door in his room. The triple trees pictured are no good to me on this project because they are from a '84 200x and I'm putting a complete '85+ front set-up on this frame. |
To the left is some of my engine that I got on eBay for around $80. It came with a cylinder but until I find a better one the engine build is on hold. I have a '84 250r and been though these before. I'll pay someone to do the machining work for me but should be able to do the rest with my trusty Haynes manual. |
Here is some of the '85 front end modeled by my oldest son Alex ;). I had the brake parts in a box still but wanted a picture to put up here. As you can tell I still haven't gone tire shopping yet, but Christmas is coming! |
I was never sure the 1985 front forks would work. I test bolted them up and it looks like a perfect fit! My wife was gone with the kids for a few days so I can play with toys in the living room like a bachelor. |
